My name is James Anderson and I’m the creator of the Dunk Calculator website. Ever since I was a young kid, I’ve loved the game of basketball. I spent hours practicing and trying to improve my skills, especially my vertical leap. I wanted to be able to throw down monster dunks like my idols Michael Jordan and Vince Carter.
But I struggled to increase my hops throughout high school. I could barely touch the net, let alone dunk. No matter how much I trained, I didn’t seem to gain any bounce. That’s when I realized I needed a more scientific approach.
In college, I majored in physics and used my knowledge of motion, gravity and force to analyze the mechanics of jumping. I studied biology and anatomy to understand which muscles were key for explosive leaping. I even took math courses on statistics and algorithms so I could write programs to help calculate vertical jump.
After graduation, I combined my passion for basketball with my scientific knowledge. I created the Dunk Calculator to allow anyone to estimate their vertical leap potential based on just a few key inputs like height and standing reach. The calculator uses proven mathematical formulas and human movement principles to provide an accurate vertical jump target.
